Te Ngako Rotorua (adult MHAS)
What is Te Ngako Rotorua?
Te Ngako is the adult Mental Health Service and Addictions Service and provides an single point of entry point for all referrals to adult mental health between 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
The service undertakes initial screening and assessment (telephone or face-to-face) of referrals to ascertain next steps.
All referrals are triaged via a multi-disciplinary team, which includes psychiatrist, registrar, occupational therapists, social workers, and community mental health nurses.
Referrals can be sent to Mental Health Referrals.
Most often referrals are done by GP or other community partners.
People can self-refer to the Mental Health Adult team at Te Ngako Community MHAS.

The Perinatal Mental Health Team at Lakes DHB provides support to mothers and babies and pregnant women who have mental health issues.
The multi-disciplinary team members (MDT) discuss treatment options and will also consider referrals on to other services including Post Natal Therapy Services, Well Child providers and others.
This is a specialist service focussed on reducing the harms of Opioid Dependence (uncontrolled addiction to morphine, oxycodone, methadone, codeine, etc).
The service is part of Lakes DHB Mental Health and Addiction Services. It is based in Rotorua with satellite clinics covering Taupo, Turangi and Mangakino.
Clients can self-refer, or can be referred by a medical practitioner or by other alcohol and drug services.
When referred, clients are offered an appointment within two weeks.
