Overseas Candidates
The Medical Management Unit has a dedicated administrator that will help you through the process of gaining your registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
A helpful tool to start off with is seeing what pathway you are eligible to register through, visit here for the registration self-assesment tool.
MCNZ has a primary source verification process using the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates’ Electronic Portfolio of International Credentials (ECFMG’s EPIC) service. You will be required to upload your primary medical degree and full registration certificate to be verified through EPIC. Before MCNZ will start processing your application, you must have had your documents verified by EPIC therefore please start this process as soon as possible (at least 3 months prior to commencement date). Ensure that you’ve selected MCNZ to receive a verification report. If you have would like more information about primary-source verification, please see MCNZs website or EPIC’s FAQ webpage. Applications for registration will be considered incomplete until EPIC verification has been received.

If you wish the apply for the Accredited Employment Work Visa, please notify us as soon as possible as we must produce a job token for you to apply.
Visa and Registration with Medical Council can take up to 3 months, please start this process as soon as possible once you’ve accepted your offer with Health New Zealand Lakes.

The Annual Recruitment Cycle is a fixed window of time, where the majority of candidates are recruited for House Officer, Senior House Officer and Registrars.
