CHRISTMAS GREETINGS FROM LAKES DHB BOARD

Dr Jim Mather, Chair of the Lakes DHB Board wishes all Lakes DHB staff a very merry Christmas.

On behalf of the Board members he wants to thank everyone for their efforts during the most difficult year of 2020, and hopes that all staff manage to get a break sometime over the summer months.

Jim Mather (pictured far left with CE Nick Saville-Wood) says it’s important that everyone does their bit in helping the country stay COVID-free over the summer.

He says keeping a track of where you’ve been, maintaining physical distancing, wearing a mask when appropriate, scrupulous hand hygiene, remembering to cough or sneeze into our elbow.

He stresses that anyone who is unwell should stay home and call your doctor or Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for advice about getting tested.

By getting a test, you’re helping keep your community safe. Testing is always free for everyone. Symptoms include:
• a new or worsening cough
• a fever of at least 38°C
• shortness of breath
• sore throat
• sneezing and runny nose
• temporary loss of smell

Jim Mather says if everyone takes plays their part and follows the health messaging we will hopefully stay healthy and safe during the holidays.

“The health sector is well prepared to respond, using what we have learnt from previous cases and regional lock downs to inform our planning and preparations,” he said.
