Now in its 15th year, the Big Latch On aims to reduce some of the most common barriers to breastfeeding continuation. The Big Latch on is an inclusive event, providing opportunity for women to make new friends, connect with support in their community and feel more confident about breastfeeding (particularly in public).

Family, whānau, friends and breastfeeding supporters are all welcome to attend alongside breastfeeding mums and children. When fathers, partners, families, workplaces, and communities support the breastfeeding mother, breastfeeding improves

The #WBW2019 slogan “Empower Parents, Enable Breastfeeding” was chosen to be inclusive of all types of parents in today’s world. Focusing on supporting both parents to be empowered is vital in order to realise their breastfeeding goals.
