Doctors at Rotorua and Taupo Hospital Emergency Departments are asking the public to keep emergency departments for emergencies.

Head of Rotorua Emergency Department and Emergency Medicine Physician, Dr Suzanne Moran, says Rotorua and Taupo Hospital emergency departments are expecting to be busy this holiday period, especially on New Year’s Eve and over the first few days of January.

This will mean long waits as staff focus on the seriously ill and injured who are in need of emergency care.

People with non-urgent issues are asked to go to Lakes Primecare or to see their own GP. It is important to plan ahead and to see your GP for regular prescription medicines or any non-urgent health issues.
