Strategic Goals
The governance group provides strategic direction and leadership related to the development and delivery of services to Lakes mothers, children and young people. Its aim is to ensure services work in a more integrated and collaborative way to provide effective, easy to use and timely care, resulting in better health for pregnant women, children and youth across the Lakes DHB area.
The members of the group are working to achieve the goals the group set out in its strategic plan. These include:
• Better information sharing between Lakes maternal and child health services
• Reduce admissions for children that could have been avoided if they had earlier care (0-14 years),
• Less than 5 per cent of the Lakes population is smoking by 2025
• Promotion of Lakes DHB’s Youth Strategy
• Confident and competent parenting, producing healthy happy children able to fulfill their potential
• The Lakes district maternal, child and youth workforce has capacity and capability to deliver effective services
• School Based Health Services deliver consistent and effective health services
Meetings of Te Whanake
The governance group meets the first Tuesday of the month between 10am -12noon.
All TWGG members are responsible for circulating the monthly meeting summary to their service networks.
