Audiology Services - Otoscope

Service Description

The Audiology Department offers full hearing assessments and hearing aid fittings for all ages.

Our primary role is assessing children and adults referred by medical practitioners, educational personnel and health care workers in the community. We also support the Ear, Nose and Throat specialists in Outpatient clinics.

Services include:

0 months - 16 years - Diagnostic hearing assessment (chosen based on age of the child    
• Auditory brainstem response testing
• Visual reinforcement audiometry
• Play audiometry
• Child hearing test / Puretone audiometry
• Speech testing
• Otoacoustic emission testing
• Immittance audiometry
• Auditory processing disorder testing

16 years and over   
• Puretone audiometry
• Speech testing
• Immittance audiometry
• Auditory processing disorder testing
• Ototoxic monitoring

Hearing Aid Service   
• All children until 16 years old or 21 years old if they are attending university
• Adult hearing aid fitting for those that meet criteria for the 'Enable Hearing Aid Funding Scheme' or those with a Community Services Care or those with severe to profound hearing loss
• Hearing aid repairs
• Not for patients from ACC or Veteran Affairs

Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 8.00 am – 4.30 pm.
