After Hours FREE immunisation clinic now in Life Pharmacy at the Rotorua Central Mall

Families in Rotorua who struggle to find time to have their children immunised during business hours can now access after-hours immunisations.

Starting this week, an experienced trained nurse vaccinator will be at Life Pharmacy in the Rotorua Central Mall on Thursday between 5 -6.30pm, and Saturday 10am-2pm.

The nurse will be able to administer any vaccinations on the national immunisation schedule. This includes all the childhood, school vaccinations and the HPV vaccinations which are now available for boys and young men up to age 26 years. All immunisations provided at the after hours clinic will be entered on to the national immunisation register.

And if you are not certain whether your child is up to date with their immunisations, the nurse will have access to the national immunisation register to check.

Pip King, portfolio manager for maternal, child and youth health for Lakes DHB says the issue of making immunisations available outside business hours has long been a talking point. She says the service in the Life Pharmacy is an extension of the Outreach Immunisation Service that has been visiting some primary care venues for some years.

She says parents find it quite tough to take time off work, so a Thursday early evening clinic and four hours on Saturday could be a big help.

“Like all immunisation services, this is free and we hope that the parking and the chance to work in immunisations with a trip to the mall might help some of our families.”
